Nuclear Commissioning and Startup Engineer
About this role
Oklo seeks a Nuclear Commissioning and Startup Engineer to oversee the transition of nuclear facilities from construction through operational readiness. The role involves planning and executing commissioning activities, managing test procedures, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and providing field engineering support during startup phases, with remote work between on-site project assignments lasting weeks to months.
What you'll do
- Develop and implement commissioning plans, test strategies, schedules, and work scopes for facility startup phases
- Create and review preoperational, commissioning, and integrated test procedures that translate design and safety requirements into executable methods
- Provide onsite field engineering oversight during system testing, startup testing, and plant evolutions while monitoring performance against acceptance criteria
- Coordinate system turnover, punch-list resolution, and test readiness across Operations, Engineering, Construction, Maintenance, and vendors
- Identify deficiencies, emerging risks, and unexpected conditions during testing; exercise stop-work authority when needed and support troubleshooting resolution
- Evaluate test results, document nonconformances and corrective actions, and prepare completion packages for system acceptance
