Oklo
Thermal-Hydraulics and Safety Analysis Engineer - Isotopes
About this role
Oklo seeks a Thermal-Hydraulics and Safety Analysis Engineer to develop and execute systems-level thermal-hydraulic analyses supporting the safety case and licensing of advanced isotope-production reactor facilities. The role involves transient modeling with RELAP5, safety-methodology development, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to produce regulatory-quality technical documentation.
What you'll do
- Develop, maintain, and execute systems-level thermal-hydraulic models using RELAP5 or comparable codes for reactor and plant behavior
- Analyze normal operations, anticipated occurrences, design-basis events, and beyond-design-basis conditions relevant to safety
- Create event-specific analysis plans including initial conditions, boundary conditions, assumptions, and uncertainty treatment
- Establish code and model applicability, perform verification, validation, sensitivity studies, and uncertainty analyses
- Translate regulatory requirements into defensible analysis requirements and prepare licensing documentation and safety-analysis reports
- Collaborate across disciplines on coupled analyses and evaluate design changes for transient response and safety margins
What they're looking for
- RELAP5 and systems-analysis code expertise
- Heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and reactor thermal-hydraulics
- Reactor transient and accident scenario analysis
- Verification, validation, and uncertainty quantification
- Technical documentation and calculation-package preparation
- Python or scripting for model automation and data analysis
- Nuclear quality assurance and regulatory knowledge
- Independent and cross-functional collaboration
