Licensed Structural Engineer - Building Design
About this role
Olsson seeks a licensed structural engineer to lead building design projects across healthcare, education, data centers, and commercial sectors in the South region. You'll own structural systems design, coordinate across disciplines, manage codes compliance, and support construction oversight while mentoring junior team members.
What you'll do
- Design and analyze building structural systems (steel, concrete, masonry, light gage) including gravity and lateral analysis with detailed calculations
- Produce and coordinate structural drawings and Revit/AutoCAD models with architectural, MEP, and civil teams
- Apply building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360) to ensure safe and constructible designs
- Review submittals, RFIs, and conduct site observations during construction; document field findings
- Perform self-checks and peer reviews; participate in QA/QC to elevate design quality
- Mentor junior engineers on task guidance, model setup, and standards adoption
