About this role

OpenAI seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to lead end-to-end production deployments of frontier AI models with strategic customers in NYC. You'll own technical scoping, system design, and rollout while gathering field feedback that shapes product and research roadmaps.

What you'll do

  • Lead complex, full-stack deployments from prototype through stable production
  • Partner directly with customers to understand needs, guide adoption, and measure workflow impact
  • Scope work, sequence delivery, and remove blockers while balancing scope, speed, and quality
  • Contribute production-grade code across frontend and backend systems
  • Codify patterns into reusable tools and playbooks for the broader team
  • Share customer feedback with Research and Product teams to influence model and feature improvements
