Product Manufacturing Engineer - PCBA
About this role
OpenAI's Hardware team seeks a Product Manufacturing Engineer to lead PCBA manufacturing strategy and execution for next-generation AI hardware, from prototype development through high-volume production. You'll partner with design, systems, and operations teams to optimize manufacturing processes, ensure production readiness, and scale complex hardware efficiently.
What you'll do
- Drive manufacturing and quality initiatives from concept through NPI, production launch, and scale
- Own PCBA manufacturing development including assembly, process validation, testing, rework, and yield improvement
- Establish manufacturing processes, quality controls, and readiness milestones with internal teams and external partners
- Assess manufacturability, identify production risks, and incorporate manufacturing requirements early in product development
- Perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing, assembly, test, and quality issues
- Manage multiple hardware programs and manufacturing workstreams simultaneously while meeting critical milestones
