About this role

OpenAI is hiring a Software Engineer to build and maintain manufacturing infrastructure for first-party AI hardware. You'll design the full-stack software that manages production, quality validation, and deployment across internal and external manufacturing sites, owning critical tools for hardware bring-up, testing, and reliability.

What you'll do

  • Design and maintain software infrastructure for manufacturing process execution and data management
  • Integrate internal systems with external vendor platforms and manufacturing processes
  • Build CI/CD pipelines and delivery infrastructure for manufacturing tooling
  • Develop monitoring, telemetry, and diagnostics systems to make manufacturing failures actionable
  • Create automation frameworks for board/rack bring-up, qualification testing, and deployment readiness
  • Debug complex production issues spanning hardware, firmware, kernel, networking, and cloud services
