About this role

OpenAI is seeking a Software Engineer to build web-based systems and features for the Codex desktop client application. You'll work across the full stack—from low-level OS integration to high-level UI—designing and implementing infrastructure for a hybrid agentic/interactive browser on macOS and Windows.

What you'll do

  • Design and build end-to-end features for Codex desktop browsing capabilities, primarily in C++ and Chromium
  • Partner with product and design teams to define and develop hybrid agentic/interactive web browser functionality
  • Develop high-performance APIs and infrastructure for client applications using C++, Python, and TypeScript
  • Ensure application stability, security, and performance across the platform
  • Collaborate with a small team of experienced engineers on a rapidly growing product
  • Identify and execute important technical work independently across the full stack
