Workday Engineer

About this role

OpenAI seeks a Workday Engineer to design and operate HR systems that scale across recruiting, payroll, benefits, and performance workflows. You'll combine deep Workday expertise with software engineering skills to build reliable integrations, automate complex processes, and connect Workday with internal tools and AI-driven systems.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain Workday integrations, applications, and workflow automations across payroll, benefits, recruiting, and performance domains
• Improve reliability and scalability of People systems through engineering best practices, testing, and operational excellence
• Build solutions connecting Workday with internal platforms, external vendors, and AI-powered tooling
• Use Git-based development practices and CLI workflows to safely deliver changes in a fast-moving environment
• Partner with People, Finance, Security, and Engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Establish standards for observability, security, and maintainability across the People systems stack
