About this role

Path Robotics seeks a Welding Engineer specializing in NAVSEA compliance to lead welding operations and process qualifications for an autonomous robotic welding system serving naval defense applications. You will bridge advanced AI-driven robotics with strict naval fabrication codes, overseeing procedure development, compliance audits, and defect analysis while collaborating with robotics teams on autonomous weld system development.

What you'll do

  • Interpret and implement NAVSEA Technical Publications and ensure compliance with MIL-STD and AWS welding codes
  • Draft, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of welding failures using non-destructive testing data (RT, UT, MT, PT)
  • Run weld parameter selection experiments and partner with robotics engineers on autonomous trajectory generation
  • Perform robotic welding experiments testing sensors, inspection systems, and new hardware integration
  • Audit fabrication vendors for NAVSEA program compliance and naval defense standards adherence
