Developer Experience Engineer
About this role
Picogrid seeks its first Developer Experience Engineer to build internal tooling and CI/CD infrastructure that accelerates engineering velocity. You'll own local development setups, golden paths, and security pipelines while embedding with teams to eliminate friction and measurably improve onboarding and deployment cycles.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain local development environments using k3s, k3d, and docker-compose
- Build reusable CI/CD workflows, IaC modules, and repository scaffolding templates
- Reduce CI duration, onboarding time, and test flakiness through metrics-driven improvements
- Own automated security and compliance scanning pipelines across repositories
- Design virtualized and HITL test environments for hardware-in-the-loop validation
- Establish documentation standards and best practices across engineering
What they're looking for
- GitHub Actions and CI/CD platforms (workflows, composite actions, caching, OIDC)
- Go or Python for maintainable tooling development
- Terraform or OpenTofu with module design
- Kubernetes and Docker, particularly for local development
- Security scanning tools (secrets, dependencies, containers, static analysis)
- AWS multi-account management including GovCloud
- Model Context Protocol (MCP) and AI agent integration
- Cost optimization for CI and cloud infrastructure
