Software Engineer, Developer API

About this role

Ramp is hiring a Software Engineer to build and maintain developer-facing APIs that power financial infrastructure for thousands of businesses. You'll design scalable backend systems, create AI-driven tooling to accelerate development, and lead complex projects end-to-end while prioritizing developer experience and platform reliability.

What you'll do

• Build and operate multi-surface API platforms serving tens of thousands of businesses with high reliability and correctness standards
• Create autonomous tooling and AI agents that enable teams across Ramp to ship their own API surfaces
• Lead end-to-end design, implementation, and rollout of complex backend projects with monitoring and maintenance
• Own API user experience and platform robustness, including hardening and evolving systems for quality and sustainability
• Drive revenue impact by serving thousands of external developers and partners using Ramp's API

• Backend engineering (5+ years experience)
• API and developer platform design
• Python, Temporal, and PostgreSQL
• AI coding agents and agentic workflows
• Developer experience and API design philosophy
• Orchestration layers and AI tooling
