About this role
Redwood Materials seeks a Software Validation Engineer to design and maintain Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing environments for grid-scale energy systems. You'll build automated validation frameworks in Python to stress-test power electronics and site controllers, ensuring products meet reliability standards before field deployment.
What you'll do
- Architect and scale SIL and HIL environments using platforms like Typhoon HIL or Opal-RT for high-fidelity battery and grid simulations
- Develop automated test suites in Python to transition validation from manual processes to fully automated, scalable frameworks
- Design test cases covering edge cases, fault scenarios, and grid compliance requirements
- Integrate validation frameworks with CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and automated reporting
- Collaborate with firmware, power electronics, and control systems teams to define validation requirements
- Perform root-cause analysis on validation failures and drive improvements to system robustness
