About this role
Relativity Space seeks a Vehicle Structures Design Engineer II to design and develop primary and secondary structures for the Terran R rocket, from conceptualization through manufacturing release. You'll own hardware across multiple subsystems, optimize for performance and manufacturability, and directly impact flight-critical components in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
What you'll do
- Design piece parts, assemblies, and systems using machined metals, sheet metal, composites, and formed panels from concept through full release
- Perform packaging assessments including interference resolution, tolerance stack analysis, and fastener/shimming strategy validation
- Coordinate design-for-manufacturing choices with manufacturing engineering to ensure producibility
- Manage parts and assemblies in PLM systems, control BOM structuring and configuration across multiple vehicles
- Create and release technical drawings incorporating GD&T as primary definition post-CDR
- Support iterative design refinement for manufacturability and production speed
