About this role

Render seeks a software engineer to build authentication, authorization, and access management systems for their cloud platform. You'll design and operate core security features like SSO, RBAC, audit logging, and credential scoping while balancing security with developer experience across the full stack.

What you'll do

  • Design and ship authentication and authorization systems for users, agents, and services including SSO, credential scoping, and SCIM provisioning
  • Evolve Render's authorization model with clear permissions and scopes for applications, environments, and platform resources
  • Own the security experience end-to-end, from UI interfaces through APIs, data models, and backend systems
  • Build controls and audit trails for customers to define, enforce, and understand access within their systems
  • Design shared auth APIs and work with Product, Design, and Security teams to drive adoption
  • Operate authentication systems including observability, safe rollouts, incident response, and on-call support
