About this role

Join Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies to build low-level software for connected vehicles, focusing on embedded AI, telemetry systems, and data management. You'll write performance-critical C++/Rust services that run on vehicle hardware with strict resource constraints, shipping on R1, R2, and VW platforms.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement native services in C++/Rust for vehicle compute across Linux, Android, and QNX
  • Build and optimize the vehicle data upload and retrieval system for ADAS and camera recordings
  • Deploy and tune ML models on vehicle NPUs for voice recognition and wake-word detection
  • Develop telemetry platform components including signal collection, metrics derivation, and fleet configuration tooling
  • Debug performance issues in production vehicles and benchmark against strict latency and memory budgets
  • Write design documentation and participate in code reviews for embedded systems code

What they're looking for

  • C++ or Rust
  • Linux systems fundamentals (processes, threading, IPC, filesystems)
  • Debugging tools (gdb, perf, strace)
  • Performance optimization and profiling
  • ML model inference and deployment
  • Android or embedded systems experience
  • Networking (Wi-Fi and cellular protocols)
  • Concurrent and real-time systems design
