About this role

Rocket Lab seeks a Fluid Component Engineer II to design, develop, and test fluid components (valves, actuators, regulators) for the Neutron reusable launch vehicle. You'll own components from concept through flight qualification, working cross-functionally with manufacturing and test teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective hardware.

What you'll do

  • Own fluid component designs from concept through launch, including valves, actuators, and regulators
  • Develop analytical models to size components and predict sealing, force balance, structural, and timing behavior
  • Create and maintain CAD models, technical drawings, and test procedures for component definition
  • Lead design reviews, manufacturing reviews, and test qualification campaigns for flight-ready components
  • Build and test prototype components hands-on while coordinating vendor and internal schedules
  • Conduct root cause failure investigations and implement design fixes to improve reliability and reduce cost/mass
