About this role
Samsara seeks a Firmware Engineer Co-Op to develop embedded software for IoT devices deployed across industrial and enterprise customers. You'll work on battery-powered sensors, Linux-based gateways, and connected dashcams, tackling hardware bring-up, driver implementation, and power optimization challenges at scale.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for gateway and sensor products
- Bring up new hardware platforms, configure I/O, and debug interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and ADC
- Implement peripheral drivers, secure bootloaders, and device firmware update mechanisms
- Design protocols and optimize energy consumption for battery-powered devices
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, full-stack, and quality teams
- Participate in customer interviews and use metrics to validate engineering work
