About this role
Saronic Technologies seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer Intern to develop and test software for autonomous surface vessels during summer 2027. You'll work hands-on with navigation algorithms, sensor integration, and real-time systems while collaborating with experienced engineers in Austin, with field deployment opportunities.
What you'll do
- Design, implement, and test software for autonomous navigation, sensor integration, and communication protocols
- Develop and optimize algorithms for real-time decision-making, path planning, and object detection
- Build testing frameworks and conduct hardware-in-the-loop validation in simulated and real-world environments
- Debug software, hardware, and networking issues during field deployments
- Create technical documentation including design specs, manuals, and test plans
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers on software-hardware integration
