About this role

Scout is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and deploy hardware across autonomous robotic platforms for defense applications. You'll own the full lifecycle of mechanical systems—from enclosure design to field validation—while collaborating with software and autonomy teams to build scalable, ruggedized platforms.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and deploy mechanical and electromechanical systems for ground, maritime, and aerial robotic platforms
  • Select and architect autonomy system components including compute modules, sensors, and communication devices
  • Design rugged enclosures for custom electronics with environmental qualification and testing
  • Own mechanical testing roles including fixture design, hardware selection, wiring, sealing, and system validation
  • Integrate hardware with electrical and software systems for field-ready deployment
  • Collaborate with mission operations, software, and autonomy teams to ensure real-world readiness and performance
