Summary

The Senior Technical Training Manager is a strategic leader responsible for building and scaling a world-class automotive technical training program focused on electric vehicles (EVs). This role will lead the development of training content, curriculum, and delivery strategies for service technicians and technical teams, while hiring and managing a team of trainers and instructional developers. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in EV systems and technical training from an OEM or high-growth automotive startup and will play a critical role in enabling operational excellence across service centers and technical operations.

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Design and implement a scalable technical training program for EV service technicians and technical staff.
  • Hire, mentor, and manage a team of trainers and curriculum developers.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, service, and product teams to ensure technical accuracy and relevance of training content.
  • Oversee the creation and delivery of blended learning experiences including hands-on labs, on-the-job training, eLearning, ILT, VILT, video content, certifications, and coaching.
  • Apply modern adult learning theory to ensure content is engaging, accessible, and performance-driven.
  • Develop assessments and evaluations aligned to Kirkpatrick’s model to measure training effectiveness.
  • Use data and feedback to continuously improve training programs and drive operational outcomes, measuring impact and speed to certification without sacrificing quality.
  • Manage all training resources, including vehicles, tools and training facilities.
  • Work with the LMS administrator to publish, manage, and maintain learning assets, certification paths and delivery of digital training components.
  • Represent the training function in cross-functional planning and leadership forums.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC.
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
  • Travel: Domestic and international travel required, approximately X % of the time. Valid driver's license required. Passport required

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Automotive Technology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in technical training, with at least 3 years in EV or automotive OEM/startup environments.
  • Proven leadership experience in building and scaling training teams and programs.
  • Strong understanding of EV systems, diagnostics, and service procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of instructional design principles and emerging learning technologies.
  • Ability to develop training solutions from concept through production and evaluation.
  • Proficiency with content authoring tools and systems (Articulate Suite, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.).
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory and blended learning strategies.

Preferred Skills

  • ASE or OEM certifications in EV or hybrid systems.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms such as Mindtickle, Cornerstone, Absorb, or similar.
  • Experience with mobile-first training, gamification, and just-in-time learning tools.
  • Proficiency in leading production and editing of audio/video/3D modeled content.
  • Experience in a high-growth startup environment and/or automotive background.
  • Ability to balance creativity with structure and scalability.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $150,000.00 - $181,250.00
