About this role

A Venezuelan BNPL fintech platform with 9M+ users seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to design and operate mission-critical payment systems at scale. You'll own robust, high-performance backend services in Node.js/NestJS, ensuring financial correctness and system resilience while mentoring engineers and shaping architecture.

What you'll do

  • Design and build scalable backend services in Node.js and NestJS with financial correctness (idempotency, reconciliation, retries)
  • Create and maintain high-performance RESTful APIs serving internal teams and external integrations
  • Model relational data in PostgreSQL with performance and integrity as primary concerns
  • Make architectural decisions, own trade-offs, and ensure optimal service performance in production
  • Lead code reviews, technical discussions, and mentor junior engineers to raise engineering standards
  • Ship features independently across multiple workstreams in a fast-growing fintech environment
