About this role
Sony Interactive Entertainment seeks an Audio Firmware Engineer to design and optimize wireless connectivity features for PlayStation gaming peripherals. You'll develop Bluetooth/BLE firmware, manage audio latency, handle protocol integration, and support certification and field operations across a product ecosystem including PlayStation Link and PULSE audio devices.
What you'll do
- Design and debug Bluetooth/BLE features in RTOS, kernel drivers, and audio services (ALSA/ASoC, codecs, DSP)
- Develop robust pairing, bonding, and provisioning flows using GATT/GAP and LE Audio standards
- Optimize end-to-end audio latency, buffer management, clock synchronization, and low-power paths
- Perform systems analysis and debugging using packet captures, logic analyzers, and audio measurement tools
- Drive interoperability and certification readiness with Bluetooth SIG, USB-IF, and Microsoft HLK standards
- Support manufacturing, acoustic calibration, OTA updates, and post-launch product operations
What they're looking for
- Advanced C/C++ and scripting (Python, shell)
- Deep Bluetooth Classic/BLE protocol knowledge (HCI, L2CAP, GATT/GAP, profiles)
- BlueZ and ARM64/x86 driver development experience
- A2DP, HFP, AVRCP, and LE Audio codec expertise (SBC, AAC, aptX, LDAC, LC3)
- Systems debugging (gdb, strace, packet analysis, tracepoints)
- Audio DSP and wireless performance optimization
- Windows, macOS, and Linux audio stack familiarity
- RF and real-world wireless constraint problem-solving
