About this role
SpaceX seeks an Additive Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize powder-bed and powder-fed 3D printing processes for Raptor engine components. You'll drive process improvements, collaborate with design and materials teams, and ensure high-quality part production through machine optimization, parameter development, and data-driven analysis.
What you'll do
- Identify and execute projects to improve printer robustness and repeatability based on machine issues and sensor data
- Design, develop, and test additive manufacturing processes using powder-bed and powder-fed techniques
- Optimize build files and print parameters to achieve high-quality parts with minimal time and maximum consistency
- Advise design teams on incorporating and optimizing features for additive manufacturing
- Collaborate with materials engineers to develop optimal parameters, heat treatments, and allowables for new alloys
- Develop systems to collect and analyze process data while documenting best practices and safety improvements
