Automation & Controls Engineer, Infrastructure & Utility (Starship)
About this role
SpaceX seeks an Automation & Controls Engineer to design, build, and maintain critical power, HVAC, and utility systems automation for Starship's launch and production infrastructure at Starbase, TX. You'll lead SCADA, PLC, and HMI projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams to scale high-capacity systems for the world's most powerful rocket.
What you'll do
- Design, build, operate, and maintain automation, control, and SCADA systems for Starbase ground infrastructure
- Design and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications in high-reliability production and launch environments
- Develop industrial electrical control panels compliant with NFPA 79, NEC, and UL 508A standards
- Lead automation and controls projects from initial design through commissioning, handoff, and team training
- Audit manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, safety improvements, and automation opportunities
- Mentor engineers and technicians while managing contractor work to support production scaling
