About this role
SpaceX seeks a Battery Engineer to design, develop, and optimize battery systems for Falcon and Dragon spacecraft. You'll manage the complete lifecycle of battery assemblies—from initial design through production and flight—while ensuring reliability and safety for crewed missions.
What you'll do
- Own battery assembly design and validation across the full product lifecycle for flight-critical applications
- Develop battery pack designs, electrical schematics, and layouts from requirements through operational flight
- Define manufacturing specifications and validation processes for battery cells and complete packs
- Design and execute hardware validation tests including environmental, abuse, and benchtop testing campaigns
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on cell selection, pack configuration, and vehicle integration
- Troubleshoot production issues and derive engineering justifications to resolve assembly and integration problems

- MATLAB or Python programming with numerical methods
