SpaceX

Dynamics Engineer (Falcon & Dragon)

Hawthorne, CAmidAdded today

About this role

SpaceX seeks a Dynamics Engineer to analyze and validate the structural dynamics, vibration, and loads on Falcon and Dragon vehicles throughout their operational lifecycle. You'll combine hand calculations, testing, flight data processing, and FEA to resolve complex dynamic problems and ensure hardware meets flight qualification requirements.

What you'll do

  • Troubleshoot dynamics issues using analytical methods, experimental testing, and flight data interpretation
  • Analyze flight telemetry to assess vehicle and engine health across the Falcon fleet
  • Plan and execute dynamic tests including instrumentation, signal processing, and model validation
  • Lead system-level analyses and recommend hardware or operational changes to cross-functional teams
  • Develop and run component and vehicle analyses using commercial FEA software and custom code

What they're looking for

  • Structural dynamics and vibration analysis
  • NASTRAN (ideally with DMAP programming)
  • Python or MATLAB for data processing and tool development
  • Flight data review and signal processing
  • Vibration and shock testing execution
  • Hand calculations and analytical problem-solving
  • FEA modeling and correlation techniques
  • System-level dynamic systems intuition
