About this role
SpaceX seeks an Environmental Engineer to oversee compliance and air quality programs at the Vandenberg Space Force Base facility, managing regulatory requirements and environmental monitoring for Falcon launch operations. The role combines technical expertise in environmental and occupational safety with cross-functional collaboration to ensure adherence to federal and California regulations.
What you'll do
- Maintain and enhance environmental compliance programs across multiple regulatory frameworks (EPA, RCRA, DOT, CUPA, RWQCB, SBCAPCD)
- Prepare, quality-check, and submit Tier II and TRI filings; maintain hazardous materials inventories and documentation
- Coordinate contractors for permitting, environmental testing, and source testing activities
- Conduct internal audits and inspections of environmental programs; drive corrective actions with operations and launch teams
- Review equipment modifications and new programs to ensure regulatory and permitting compliance
- Support NEPA documentation, biological monitoring, and debris mitigation initiatives
