Equipment Reliability Engineer (Starship)
About this role
SpaceX is seeking an Equipment Reliability Engineer to optimize critical production equipment for Starship manufacturing. You will develop and implement reliability programs, conduct root cause analyses, integrate IoT monitoring systems, and partner across teams to maximize asset availability and minimize downtime at this cutting-edge aerospace facility.
What you'll do
- Own equipment improvement plans and maintenance strategies to maximize production equipment availability
- Define reliability programs including preventive maintenance, spare parts selection, and condition-based monitoring
- Conduct root cause analysis and FMECA to address repetitive or high-consequence equipment failures
- Design and integrate new sensors and IoT systems for real-time performance monitoring and predictive triggers
- Develop maintenance and reliability KPIs to drive continuous improvements and organizational efficiency
- Coordinate cross-functionally with production, tooling, and automation teams on design iterations and equipment overhauls
