About this role
SpaceX seeks an experienced storage engineer to design and manage enterprise storage infrastructure supporting mission-critical workloads including simulation, telemetry, and test data processing. The role focuses on administering high-performance, multi-tier storage systems (NetApp, Pure, VAST, HPE) and optimizing exabyte-scale file systems for demanding aerospace applications.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain multi-tier storage infrastructure across high-performance, capacity, archive, backup, and disaster recovery tiers
- Architect and operate high-throughput, low-latency storage systems supporting exabyte-scale file systems like VAST
- Administer NetApp, Pure FlashArray/FlashBlade, VAST, and HPE Alletra storage platforms
- Monitor and troubleshoot storage performance across hardware, transport (RDMA), and protocol layers
- Develop automation tools for monitoring, capacity planning, and alerting using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible
- Collaborate with compute, networking, and application teams to align storage strategies with workload requirements
What they're looking for
- Enterprise storage platforms (NetApp, Pure Storage, VAST, HPE Alletra)
- Storage protocols (NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, NVMe over TCP)
- Infrastructure automation (Python, PowerShell, Ansible)
- Network protocols and RDMA technology
- DFS administration and distributed file systems
- Performance tuning and troubleshooting across full stack
- Hardware installation and on-premises infrastructure
- Virtualization and cloud infrastructure concepts
