About this role
SpaceX seeks an experienced storage engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise storage infrastructure supporting mission-critical workloads like simulation and telemetry at scale. The role requires hands-on expertise with platforms such as NetApp, Pure Storage, and VAST in an on-premises environment, with responsibilities spanning performance optimization, automation, and cross-team collaboration.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain multi-tier storage infrastructure for high-performance, capacity, archive, and disaster recovery workloads
- Architect and operate exabyte-scale file systems and high-throughput, low-latency storage for simulation and telemetry processing
- Administer enterprise storage systems including NetApp, Pure FlashArray/FlashBlade, VAST, and HPE Alletra
- Monitor and troubleshoot storage performance across hardware, transport (RDMA), and protocol layers
- Develop automation and tooling for monitoring, capacity planning, configuration management, and alerting
- Participate in on-call rotation, scheduled maintenance, and occasional hardware installation
