About this role
SpaceX seeks a Machine Maintenance Engineer for its Bastrop Tool & Die shop to lead the maintenance and continuous improvement of CNC, EDM, grinding, and related equipment used in high-volume production of Starlink terminal components. The role combines hands-on troubleshooting with strategic equipment reliability initiatives, requiring ownership of complex repairs and facility-wide modernization projects.
What you'll do
- Lead maintenance technicians through troubleshooting and resolution of complex machine-tool failures
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address equipment, process, and behavioral gaps
- Develop and execute improvement projects to maximize machine availability and die build rate
- Collaborate with tooling, manufacturing, and automation teams to integrate reliability and maintenance access into new equipment designs
- Implement predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, spindle monitoring) and establish reliability-centered maintenance programs
- Execute hands-on repairs of mechanical, electrical, fluid, pneumatic, and control-system failures on CNC and EDM equipment
