About this role
SpaceX seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead inspection operations for Starship machining, optimizing quality control processes and collaborating across engineering and production teams to enhance manufacturability and inspectability of flight-critical hardware.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute inspection plans for machined components to ensure quality while optimizing cycle time and inspection reliability
- Drive improvements to inspection processes including CMM programming optimization and workflow streamlining to reduce touch time
- Increase inspection throughput and manage non-conformances through standardization of rework guides and frequency optimization
- Maintain feedback loops with design and manufacturing teams to improve design for manufacturability and inspectability
- Evaluate and implement novel inspection equipment and technologies to enhance accuracy and repeatability
- Investigate root causes of non-conforming parts and implement corrective actions across SpaceX facilities

- Precision metrology systems (CMMs, laser scanning, 3D imaging, photogrammetry)
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- CMM programming
- Machine shop manufacturing processes and setups
