SpaceX
Material Flow Engineer
About this role
SpaceX seeks a Material Flow Engineer to optimize receiving, storage, and movement of materials at Starbase for Starship production. The role combines lean principles, data analytics, and process design to enable efficient scaled manufacturing while maintaining safety and cost-effectiveness.
What you'll do
- Design and optimize material flow strategies from receipt through lineside delivery using value stream mapping and lean principles
- Develop factory and warehouse layouts with inventory models to maximize storage density and achieve targeted part flow
- Create labor and equipment resource plans through time studies and lean analysis to support material flow operations
- Design sustainable, cost-effective packaging solutions balancing logistics density, handling efficiency, and quality standards
- Analyze material flow performance using Excel, Tableau, and SQL to identify issues and support operational decisions
- Conduct safety assessments, audits, and training to ensure compliance with federal, state, and SpaceX safety standards
What they're looking for
- Material flow engineering and lean manufacturing principles
- Data analysis tools (Excel, Tableau, SQL)
- Layout design software (AutoCAD or similar)
- Value stream mapping and process optimization
- Material handling equipment knowledge
- Packaging design and supply chain planning
- Project management and cross-functional collaboration
