About this role
SpaceX seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design, evaluate, and maintain HVAC and environmental control systems for facilities and aerospace applications at Vandenberg Air Force Base. The role involves thermal calculations, system specification, controls integration, and cross-functional collaboration to support launch operations and facility infrastructure.
What you'll do
- Perform cooling load and heat loss calculations per ASHRAE standards for diverse facility types
- Design HVAC systems for offices, hangars, rockets, and payload environmental control applications
- Develop mechanical and controls designs using CAD and computer-assisted drafting tools
- Oversee installation, operation, and maintenance to ensure systems meet specifications
- Investigate equipment failures and recommend design modifications to resolve malfunctions
- Coordinate maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and material supply schedules
