Mechanical Engineer, MEP

About this role

SpaceX seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead MEP design, coordination, and project management for Starbase's rocket factory facilities and ground support equipment. This role spans design through construction oversight, requiring expertise in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems integrated with aggressive timelines and operational demands.

What you'll do

• Lead MEP design and coordination across residential, commercial, and industrial facility projects
• Manage full project lifecycle from concept through construction, ensuring on-time and under-budget delivery
• Prepare, review, and coordinate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design documents and specifications
• Oversee construction activities, resolve field conflicts, and ensure code compliance
• Develop project budgets, schedules, and cost controls; manage contracts with multiple subcontractors
• Coordinate permits, governmental approvals, and post-construction operationalization with facilities teams

• MEP design and construction document creation (plans, elevations, sections, details)
• AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent MEP design software
• HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and industrial gas systems design
• Project management, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
• Construction management and tenant improvement experience
• Blueprint reading and construction principles knowledge
• Contract negotiation and subcontractor management
• Written and verbal communication with cross-functional teams
