About this role

Browserbase seeks a Design Engineer to create beautiful, intuitive interfaces for their AI web-automation platform. You'll blend design and front-end engineering to build a world-class developer experience, working closely with a small, high-impact team at a fast-growing Series B startup.

What you'll do

  • Lead design and development of platform product experiences alongside two other design engineers
  • Build responsive, accessible interfaces using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS
  • Translate Figma designs into high-quality, interactive prototypes and shipped code
  • Establish and maintain a scalable design system of reusable components and patterns
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, product, and growth teams from concept through launch
  • Raise craft standards across the platform through attention to visual detail and consistency

What they're looking for

  • Product design (5+ years at high-growth startups)
  • React and Next.js front-end development
  • Figma design and prototyping
  • TypeScript and Tailwind CSS
  • Design systems and component architecture
  • Interaction design and motion
  • Typography, hierarchy, and visual design
  • Cross-functional collaboration and communication

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with meaningful early-stage equity
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Daily catered lunches and fully-stocked kitchen
  • Unlimited credits for AI tools (Cursor, Claude, etc.)
  • Beautiful downtown San Francisco office with 4-day week requirement
  • Regular team offsites and company events

Likely interview questions

  • Walk us through a design system or component library you've built—how did you approach reusability and what impact did it have?
  • Tell us about a time you shipped a complex feature by working closely with engineers—how did you bridge the design-to-code gap?
