About this role
SpaceX seeks a Mechanical Engineer specializing in structures to design and deliver critical production infrastructure for Starship manufacturing at Starbase. You'll lead the design of large-scale steel structures, ground support equipment, and factory systems that support high-volume operations in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
What you'll do
- Lead structural design of production infrastructure ranging from tooling fixtures to factory buildings and assembly support structures
- Perform structural analysis and design using hand calculations and FEA for steel, concrete, and composite materials under static, dynamic, and vibration loads
- Develop structural drawings, connection details, fabrication packages, and assembly sequences for complex structures
- Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, facilities, and construction teams to integrate structural systems with production equipment and operational needs
- Support fabrication and construction activities including shop drawing review, weld procedure evaluation, and field issue resolution
- Own design delivery and ensure infrastructure meets production demands and operational cycles
