Network Engineer, AI Infrastructure (Starshield)
About this role
SpaceX seeks a Network Engineer to design, deploy, and optimize critical network infrastructure supporting Starshield's national security missions. You'll manage high-scale AI data center networks, collaborate with ML and hardware teams, and lead infrastructure improvements for top-secret government operations.
What you'll do
- Design and validate high-speed optical and copper connectivity solutions for large-scale AI GPU clusters
- Manage network infrastructure deployments to Top Secret data centers and oversee network integration
- Translate ML workload communication patterns into interconnect topology and reconfigurability requirements
- Build automation tools for network device provisioning, deployment, and operational management
- Monitor network performance and reliability, including capacity planning and failure remediation
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and network teams to improve overall Starshield network design
What they're looking for
- Layer-1 networking (transport, DWDM, optical fiber, circuit troubleshooting)
- Data center network architecture (Ethernet, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, VXLAN)
- Hardware deployment and troubleshooting (routers, switches, firewalls, modems)
- InfiniBand/NVLink and GPU deployment stack experience (NVIDIA Blackwell/Rubin)
- Network automation and scripting
- Physical fiber troubleshooting
- Network security implementation
- Vendor certifications (Cisco, Juniper, Arista)
