SpaceX
New Graduate Engineer, Electrical (Starship)
About this role
SpaceX seeks new graduate electrical engineers to join the Starship program at Starbase, TX, designing and developing advanced avionics, automation systems, and power infrastructure for orbital rockets and spacecraft. You'll work across multiple sub-teams on mission-critical electronics in extreme environments, from initial design through flight operations, while supporting manufacturing and launch operations.
What you'll do
- Design analog and digital circuits, power converters, and signal conditioning for space-rated avionics in extreme environments
- Develop high-reliability avionics components including sensors, power systems, and data acquisition from requirements through testing and flight support
- Troubleshoot electrical systems hands-on, support technicians, and ensure safe operation in dynamic production and launch environments
- Manage Starbase microgrids including power budgets, monitoring, metering, and compliance with electrical safety standards
- Participate in automated equipment and process development for Starship manufacturing
- Develop protective relay settings and coordinate high-voltage systems per industry standards
What they're looking for
- Circuit design (analog/digital, power electronics, signal integrity)
- Power systems analysis tools (ETAP, PowerWorld, Matlab, PSCAD)
- Industrial controls (PLC programming, HMI/SCADA, robotics)
- Electrical schematic and panel design with hands-on commissioning
- High-voltage systems, transformers, switchgear, and relay protection
- Industrial communications (Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet, fieldbuses)
- Microcontrollers, FPGAs, and circuit board design-for-manufacture
- NFPA and IEEE electrical standards compliance
