About this role
SpaceX seeks a new graduate mechanical engineer to join the Starlink satellite vehicle engineering organization in Redmond, WA. You'll own the full design lifecycle of space-grade hardware components—from structural and thermal analysis through production and on-orbit operation—working across multiple specialized teams to scale the world's largest satellite constellation.
What you'll do
- Own hardware design from conception through high-volume production and on-orbit operation for Starlink satellites
- Develop design criteria, collaborate on system requirements, and drive optimization across the satellite vehicle
- Rapidly iterate designs and analysis to inform trades and steer overall product direction
- Drive design-for-manufacturability (DFM) with focus on part reduction, error-proofing, and consistent production metrics
- Perform environmental and performance testing to validate analysis and demonstrate design compliance
- Establish efficient product lifecycle balancing cost, complexity, and quality from supply chain through final integration
