New Graduate Engineer, Mechanical Design (Starshield)

About this role

SpaceX is hiring a New Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer for the Starshield program to own hardware development from concept through production and on-orbit operations. You'll drive design optimization, perform testing, and collaborate across teams to deliver innovative aerospace systems on aggressive timelines.

What you'll do

• Own mechanical hardware and mechanisms from design conception through volume production and operational deployment
• Develop design criteria, establish requirements, and optimize system-level performance through rapid iteration
• Drive design for manufacturability to reduce complexity, part count, and production cost while ensuring quality
• Establish efficient product lifecycle from supply chain through final integration, balancing cost and performance
• Conduct environmental and performance testing to validate designs and verify compliance with specifications
• Manage product delivery timeline and demonstrate ownership of outcomes at every development stage
