Propulsion Design Engineer (Raptor Engine Systems)

About this role

SpaceX seeks a Propulsion Design Engineer to own the top-level mechanical design, integration, and configuration management of the Raptor engine system and its interfaces with Starship. You'll manage CAD models, engineering documentation, and design changes while collaborating across manufacturing, test, and vehicle teams to ensure hardware meets quality standards and delivery schedules.

What you'll do

• Manage Raptor engine assembly CAD, drawings, bills of materials, and configuration across design phases
• Maintain engine fluid schematics and Raptor-to-Starship interfaces including structural, seal, and packaging specifications
• Lead or support engineering change reviews, design reviews, and documentation (DCR, PDR, CDR)
• Develop automation tools for configuration management, change tracking, and design documentation
• Collaborate with manufacturing, test, analysis, and vehicle teams to resolve integration issues and release hardware
• Contribute to conceptual and system-level design for future engine configurations and ongoing Raptor evolution

• 3D CAD (preferably Siemens NX) and Teamcenter PLM
• Mechanical design and integration of large assemblies
• Engineering change processes and design-review documentation
• GD&T and production drawing creation
• Scripting and automation (Python, SQL, MATLAB preferred)
• Fluid systems, heat transfer, or structural analysis knowledge
• Cross-functional coordination and technical communication
• Hands-on manufacturing, machining, or test experience
