SpaceX

Signal Integrity Engineer - Serdes, Satellites (Starlink)

Palo Alto, CAmidAdded yesterday

About this role

SpaceX seeks a Signal Integrity Engineer to own SI across the full lifecycle of Starlink satellite payload hardware, from architecture evaluation and PCB design through production troubleshooting. You'll work at the intersection of electrical, mechanical, thermal, software, and RF engineering to develop cutting-edge communication systems and define SI processes for the team.

What you'll do

  • Design, simulate, verify, and troubleshoot SI for advanced SERDES (10–112+ Gbps), memory interfaces, and optoelectronic systems in satellite hardware
  • Collaborate with RF, antenna, ASIC, packaging, mechanical, and thermal engineers to architect novel products with advanced channels and power delivery strategies
  • Derive PCB material specifications and design optimized transition structures across the entire signal path
  • Root cause and resolve manufacturing, test, and integration issues in satellite hardware
  • Define SI best practices, simulation workflows, test methodologies, and signoff criteria for Starlink payloads
  • Oversee PCB layout and characterize channel performance across product lifecycle phases

What they're looking for

  • 3D EM simulation tools (CST, HFSS, ADS) and high-speed digital channel simulators
  • Advanced SERDES architecture and DSP-based transceiver design (56–224 Gbps range)
  • High-speed memory interface design (DDR4, LPDDR5, GPDDR6, QSPI, eMMC)
  • Wireline transceiver concepts, transmission line theory, and electromagnetic theory
  • PCB design, stackup material selection, and low-loss laminate experience
  • Python, C/C++ programming for analysis and automation
  • EMI/EMC debugging and high-speed connector expertise
  • Cross-functional collaboration and full product lifecycle hardware development
