Starbase, TXmidAdded 3 days ago

About this role

SpaceX seeks a Structures Test Engineer to design, build, and execute large-scale static and dynamic structural tests for Starship. You'll oversee mechanical, fluid, and data acquisition systems while leading technicians through test assembly, operation, and data analysis in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

  • Develop and execute system-level static and dynamic structural tests from conception through operation
  • Design, build, and modify mechanical systems ranging from small brackets to large structural weldments
  • Design and troubleshoot fluid systems including high-pressure gases, cryogenic propellants, and hydraulic controls
  • Build and maintain NI-based data acquisition systems with strain gages, pressure transducers, thermocouples, and load cells
  • Develop test procedures, sequences, scripts, and software for test execution
  • Direct and instruct technicians on instrumentation installation, structural assembly, pressurization, and large structure handling

What they're looking for

  • Static and dynamic structural testing
  • Mechanical design and fabrication (welding, machining, fastening)
  • Fluid systems (high-pressure gas, cryogenic, hydraulic)
  • Data acquisition systems (NI hardware/software preferred)
  • Instrumentation (strain gages, pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs)
  • Technical documentation and test procedures
  • Systems integration (mechanical, electrical, software)
  • Team leadership and technical direction
