About this role
SpaceX seeks a Supplier Development Engineer to serve as the technical lead for assigned rocket and engine components at the launch site, managing supplier quality, manufacturing challenges, and new product introductions while supporting Starship, Dragon, and Falcon programs. The role demands expertise in machining and assembly processes, with accountability for mitigating production risks and driving reliability improvements across the supply base.
What you'll do
- Act as primary technical contact for assigned flight and non-flight parts, resolving supplier manufacturing and quality issues that impact build and launch schedules
- Lead containment and corrective actions to mitigate schedule risk, driving root cause resolution and implementing changes at supplier or SpaceX facilities
- Manage new product introduction (NPI) and production part approval (PPAP) processes to stabilize supply and reduce inspection oversight
- Conduct design for manufacturing (DFM) reviews early in development to ensure manufacturability and identify re-sourcing opportunities
- Collaborate with procurement to identify and vet suppliers capable of meeting aggressive quality and delivery requirements
- Create and disposition issue tickets, coordinating rework, repair, or use-as-is decisions with engineering counterparts

- MRP/ERP system knowledge
