SpaceX
Supplier Development Engineer, Electrical (Starlink)
About this role
SpaceX seeks an Electrical Supplier Development Engineer to manage the end-to-end supplier lifecycle for Starlink's electromechanical components, from NPI through high-volume production. This cross-functional role involves qualifying suppliers, driving manufacturing process improvements, and ensuring reliable, high-yield production at scale.
What you'll do
- Analyze manufacturing processes and electromechanical assemblies using first-principles physics with focus on electrical domain
- Lead supplier selection, qualification, and NPI execution through high-volume production scaling
- Develop part qualification criteria, functional requirements, and reliability standards in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize supplier processes for high-rate production and yield
- Lead failure investigations and root cause analysis to improve manufacturing yields
- Approve First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) reports
What they're looking for
- Electrical engineering fundamentals and electronics manufacturing
- High-volume electromechanical manufacturing processes (motors, sensors, automation)
- Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical tools (Minitab, Six Sigma)
- Manufacturing capability evaluations and process capability indices (Cp/Cpk)
- Reliability engineering and failure analysis methodologies
- Technical drawing interpretation and connector datasheets
- Root cause analysis and problem-solving
- Cross-functional communication and technical documentation
