About this role
SpaceX seeks a Thermal Control and Life Support Hardware Engineer to design and develop critical environmental and thermal management systems for Crew Starship, enabling safe crewed missions to the Moon and Mars. You'll own the full lifecycle from concept through production of innovative solutions spanning air distribution, water reclamation, waste management, and active thermal control.
What you'll do
- Design and develop life support and thermal control hardware across multiple disciplines including fans, air sanitation, water systems, waste management, and fire suppression
- Lead rapid iteration on manufacturing processes and conduct development testing in a fast-paced environment
- Manage project delivery from early design through production, launch, and operational phases
- Conduct design reviews with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure integration with avionics, software, and mission operations
- Ensure designs meet manufacturability, reliability, and safety requirements for crewed spaceflight
