About this role

Supabase seeks a FinOps Engineer to optimize cloud costs across AWS and GCP infrastructure. You'll identify and implement cost savings, build cost attribution systems, automate governance, and partner with engineering and finance teams to embed financial awareness into architectural decisions.

What you'll do

  • Identify and ship cost savings through AWS/GCP billing analysis, rightsizing, storage policies, and auto-scaling optimization
  • Design and maintain cost attribution frameworks including tagging policies and chargeback/showback systems
  • Build automated cost reporting, anomaly detection, and alerting using Python, Terraform, and Lambda
  • Advise engineering teams on cost implications during architecture and design discussions
  • Support financial forecasting, budget tracking, and create dashboards for engineering and finance stakeholders
  • Work with cross-functional teams to enforce cost governance and policies

  • AWS expertise and GCP knowledge (pricing models, billing structures, optimization)
  • Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or Pulumi)
  • Python and Bash scripting
  • AWS Lambda and serverless architecture
  • Cost/billing tools (AWS Cost Explorer, Cost & Usage Reports, GCP Billing Reports)
  • Data visualization and BI tools (Hex experience preferred)
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Cloud cost management platforms (CloudZero, Vantage, or similar)
