About this role

Swarm Aero seeks a Software Engineer, Autonomy to lead the scaling of their autonomy stack for a large-scale drone swarm. You'll own the architectural direction for perception, planning, and control systems, while mentoring a growing team of robotics engineers. This role offers the opportunity to directly contribute to a critical national security mission within a rapidly growing defense technology company.

What you'll do

  • Own and evolve the autonomy stack with agentic AI.
  • Harden and extend communication protocols for swarm decision-making.
  • Evaluate and defend technical tradeoffs related to onboard vs. offboard compute and centralized vs. distributed decision-making.
  • Transition autonomy capabilities from testing to fielded operations.
  • Mentor and guide a team of robotics engineers.
  • Write clean, testable, and reliable code.
