Varda Space Industries
Manufacturing Engineer (Avionics / Electromechanical / Harnessing)
About this role
Varda seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead electromechanical assembly processes for spacecraft, including wire harnesses, connectors, and payload integration. You'll develop manufacturing procedures, manage payload customer interfaces, and drive continuous improvement across build operations in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end manufacturing processes for spacecraft payload systems and electromechanical assemblies
- Develop work instructions, assembly procedures, and acceptance test protocols for fabrication and integration
- Serve as primary manufacturing contact for payload customers, translating requirements into production processes
- Implement contamination control and cleanliness protocols for sensitive payload hardware
- Conduct payload acceptance testing, functional verification, and pre-integration inspections with traceable records
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances; coordinate MRB dispositions
What they're looking for
- Wire harness fabrication and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
- Connector assembly (D-sub, circular MIL-spec, coax)
- Electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pinout interpretation
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) feedback
- ESD control and contamination management
- Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
- Cross-functional collaboration with engineers and technicians
- Spacecraft or aerospace electromechanical integration experience
